Fedora 6+: Hardware Profiles

I ran across this announcement:

Smolt: Fedora Hardware Profiler

Seems like a neat way to let Fedora developers know what hardware is being used by those who wish to participate in development without actually knowing how to code.

I would like to see this used by other distributions as well. I can imagine how this could translate into positive marketing data for those trying to convince leading hardware vendors to support linux.

What are your thoughts?
