Dell and Canonical have announced a partnership to offer Ubuntu Linux on Dell desktop and laptop computers. The Dell announcement can be seen here and the Ubuntu announcement here.

This ends speculation as to which distro(s) Dell will make available. Currently Dell offers ‘Enterprise’ versions of both Red Hat and Novel/SuSe linux on their PowerEdge server line as well as Red Hat Enterprise Linux on their Precision Desktops. OptiPlex desktops and Lattitude Laptops are currently certified to run Novell SLED 10.

  1. I understood that Ubuntu will not have exclusivity. Redhat is there too.
