Like many I started experimenting on Linux in 1995 and finally fell in love with Linux in 1995 and registered with The Linux Counter in early 1996. I chose Linux because I could not find or afford applications to do what I wanted to do using Windows. I wanted to do more than simply surf the internet and get email. I wanted to learn to run a few web services and administer a small network. Linux allowed me to do this while Windows locked me out due to high costs and lack of source code.
When I started I was truely a non-technical end user with little experience in computers at all. Today I am proficient in network administration and have even managed a sucessful consultant business on the side.
