Read on …

Like many I started experimenting on Linux in 1995 and finally fell in love with Linux in 1995 and registered with The Linux Counter in early 1996. I chose Linux because I could not find or afford applications to do what I wanted to do using Windows. I wanted to do more than simply surf the internet and get email. I wanted to learn to run a few web services and administer a small network. Linux allowed me to do this while Windows locked me out due to high costs and lack of source code.

When I started I was truely a non-technical end user with little experience in computers at all. Today I am proficient in network administration and have even managed a sucessful consultant business on the side.

No matter your level of expertise or experience Linux is simply a smart choice. You can find a boat load of information on Linux from these major starting points:

Linux Wikipedia Entry
Google’s Linux Page
The Linux Homepage
The Linux Documentation Project
The Fedora Project
Red Hat, Inc.
The Debian Project
Mandriva Linux
Novel SuSe Linux
Ubuntu Linux
The Enterprise Linux Resource
The Linux Journal
The Linux Kernel Archives
Linux News on Internet Time

And below is the Linux mascot: Tux.
